Hi everyone,
I have created a couple of drawings on revit with standard dimensioning style. Please go through the drawing, study and observe how a complex measured drawing is done. Please try and follow the standards as close as possible.
Look out for the following in both Plan and in Sections -
- Dimensioning - lines, ticks, text position and alignment.
- Windows
- Doors
- Wall joins - External and internal walls.
- Slabs, floors and walls in section.
- Floor & Ground (the hatch pattern and joinery can be completely replaced by proper construction detail as explained in Building Construction class or both ground and floor slab can be solid hatched or left blank)
- Line weight - almost everyone in class needs to get this right.
- Units - Measurements are written in millimeters
- Room Tags - One addition that you might have to do is to add the Length and Width of the room under the room name, as explained by Minaz.
- Note - Use the formatting as taught in class, the one in the right hand side.
- Names of the drawings, numbering and reference on different sheets.
- Section lines and Section heads.
- Staircase, railing, UP and DN labeling and arrows.
- Dotted staircases in Level-1
- Cut Staircase in Section 1
- Roof (temporarily use this standard, you can incorporate roof details when it is covered in class).
I am attaching a link with this post, follow this link to download the sample PDF file. It is on a A2 size sheet, I do not expect you to take prints, but if you want, feel free to do so at your own convenience.

Enjoy your work (easier said than done).
Lastly, please follow the Blog (it is a feature at the bottom right of the blog). If you haven't already voted on the assignment, please do so. It helps understand the assignment importance from a faculty point of view, the voting is all anonymous. Also, I would appreciate it if you could remove some time and comment on the posts. I would like to know what you have to think about the things that are mentioned on the blog.
Work smart and all the best.
